Development at North Cambourne provides:
- A unique opportunity to plan development and implement transport systems in a different way

Pedestrians and cyclists
A pattern of development is proposed in which:
- The design of the streets and places provide priority for pedestrians and cyclists
- There would be improved connections across the A428 between North Cambourne and the southern villages linking into existing routes

would be located around
the development at key
sites and can be introduced within the
Cambourne villages
- The secondary school
would be located at the
centre of the whole

accessible by pedestrian
and cycle routes as well as local ‘hail and ride’ bus services
Travel planning
A community-wide Travel Plan would be introduced setting out a long term management strategy to
deliver sustainable
transport objectives.
Public transport proposals include:
- Bus services to St. Neots and Cambridge
- Feeder bus services from the local area
- ‘Hail and ride’ bus loop service around North Cambourne and Cambourne villages
- New public transport interchange hub at North Cambourne with park and ride and associated facilities
- Off bus ticketing option to reduce waiting times
- Low emission vehicles
- Real time travel information on website
Innovation
In order to assist in the
initiatives identified certain
levels of innovation are
possible,
such as:
- Community wide car club with electric powered vehicles
- Bike stations
- Local deliveries by electric vehicles

- Renewable energy
