North Cambourne has a vision to promote renewable energy which could include wind power, combined heat and power plants, solar and ground source heat and cooling

 

Wind

Wind can provide an economically viable source of renewable energy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Combined heat and power

As part of the scheme it is proposed that a CHP system is introduced to provide electrical power and heating.

 

Ground sources

Ground source pumps can be used for both heating and cooling buildings and provide
a useful source of renewable energy.

Solar

Solar power can be utilised in a number
of ways:


  • Maximising the use of daylight by the correct orientation of houses reducing the need for artificial lighting
  • Passive solar gain reduces the need for space heating
  • Photovoltaic (PV) panels convert solar radiation directly into electricity
  • Solar panels are excellent for providing hot water and heating
